We experience the greatest satisfaction not when we receive or acquire something but when we make an authentic contribution to the well-being of others or the social good."

What is Regenerative Agriculture?

Regenerative agriculture is an effective way to restore biodiversity and stabilize the climate, but what exactly is it? This video explores three different regenerative practices that have great potential both in food production and in healing the land. First frost of autumn, many vegetables are fine and a few not

I show you vegetables which will probably suffer a little damage. There is always uncertainty! It's only seven weeks until winter Solstice, so there are no more tomatoes or squash to worry about - we cleared those plants in October. We are forecast -1C/39F, but for 3-4 hours duration, which makes it worse! So I cover the hearts of Chinese cabbage, and I show a fleece or row cover of 30gsm/1oz per square yard thickness. At the beginning you see insect mesh, less warm but also protecting a little against frost. See online course 2 for more details https://charlesdowding.co.uk/product/online-course-2-growing-success/ Discover Homeacres weather at any time - my weather station is live here https://www.charlesdowding.co.uk/weather/index.htm and you may need to refresh the page. Filmed 3rd November at Homeacres no dig garden in Somerset, SW UK, zone 8 climate. Nicola Smith on the iPhone 11S. Making compost from garden and other wastes, the principles and some results

I explain green and brown ingredients, using coffee and other wastes including roots of perennial weeds and blighted leaves. What size pieces to add, what temperatures you need and may expect. How long to leave heaps before turning or using, I show you compost in different stages, of varied age and moisture content. For a review of greens and browns in summer compost making, see this 2020 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtMsEylZvqw For more detail of the turning process see my four minute time lapse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPcYXGqt9CQ.
